* Cannabis is safer and less addictive than cigarettes or alcohol. It should be sold along with adult-only items, where I.D. is required. This would put pot dealers out of business overnight.
* No one has ever lethally overdosed on THC – the main compound in cannabis. POT IS NON-TOXIC.
* Cannabis has medicinal value, or there would be no such thing as Sativex®, by GW Pharmaceuticals. Sativex is isolated THC and cannabinoids found in cannabis. It is sprayed under the tongue, which eliminates the need to smoke/vaporize. Both are used to ease nausea, spastic pain, and other discomforts.
* About $23,000,000 are spent every day enforcing cannabis laws. Nearly 2,000 Americans are arrested every day for possession of a misunderstood plant. Despite these numbers, pot is literally everywhere. The Noble Experiment of the 1920's taught us that Prohibition is expensive, ineffective, AND makes matters worse by strengthening the Black Market, which CREATES crime and corruption. The “bad” guys don’t want cannabis to be re-legalized ~ they’d lose too much money! American lives for money. Sad but true.
*During use, it can impair concentration like cold medicine can. This does not justify arrest. There simply must be a victim for there to be a crime in a free country, or we’re just trading freedoms for “security.”
* The “Gateway Theory” and “Amotivational Syndrome” associated with marijuana use have been proven false by the Institute of Medicine’s 1999 book, Marijuana and Medicine. See it at nap.edu. Science Rules!
* Lying about the dangers of pot will only sabotage any attempt to warn of homemade methamphetamine, which is truly harmful to the user, community and environment. Remember “The Boy Who Cried Wolf”?
Well-behaved people in THIS country should not have to fear the police. We are the Land of the Free - for All, not just for some.
Cannabis consumers are entirely capable of living peaceful, productive lives and being good parents. The only true risk of using cannabis is the possibility of being caught, which could cause loss of job, loss of custody of children, loss of property, fines, and years behind bars. It is unacceptable to do this to people who are not dangerous. Jail is for people who have no regard for others, not people who simply want freedom of choice. It’s easy to think of the people who are arrested for pot as outlaws getting what they deserve, but please understand that many of them simply are not looking for trouble, just a safe form of relief. Being taken to jail is terrifying, and a criminal record can ruin people who would otherwise be just fine. Once you find the truth, PLEASE ask your congress-people to really look into the matter themselves. They WILL respond when enough concern is shown, and awareness is rising!
SO WHY IS IT ILLEGAL?
Cannabis Sativa was made illegal nationwide in 1937, mainly to help control Mexicans and Blacks during the Great Depression. Terrifying stories of “marihuana” turning people into mindless monsters were made up and used as scare tactics to promote its prohibition, and good stories could pass laws during this frightening time. It remains illegal due to fear, ignorance and greed. Anyone who would take the time to study the uses of cannabis/hemp would conclude that ruining millions to try to stop its use is terribly wrong. But there are many people who would lose a lot of money and power if current policies change. So please, do your own research and if you want change, politely tell your elected officials. They really do want to hear from you. E-MAIL CONGRESS at congress.org. It’s easy, it’s our duty, and best of all, EVERY LETTER COUNTS!! “I don’t like using our taxes to arrest people who use cannabis.” That’s all you need to say. Letters do add up. If you don’t want to do anything, at least now you know the truth. The sooner we know the truth, the sooner this disgusting oppression will end. It doesn’t belong in America. Don’t let fear and ignorance rule over you. We are paying to be lied to, but we CAN fix this. :)

METHODS:
1) Hand them out on downtown streets (The smaller the city, the less ignored you will be).
2) Put them into door-knob bags from plasticbagsforyou.com (Item #006645, 1,000 for $30!) and go to apartment complexes (Great stair workout included!) or middle-class houses.
Here is the method that works best for me:
First, make copies (or order the materials) of all the things you want to put out - I usually get 2,000 at a time because this is one of my favorite things to do. Plus you pay less per copy if you buy more. Some copy shops also have folding machines, which can save a LOT of time for very little money. I like to save paper by using both sides of the paper to distribute two different flyers.
Then, stack and arrange the folded papers so they will be easy to pick up and slide into the bag. I usually have 4 things to put into each bag, so I have the bags laying right in front of me with the openings by my dominate hand, then I have the 4 stacks just on the other side of the bags, and they are arranged so that as I go down the line picking each one up, it ends up being lined up neatly and right-side-up. I like to arrange them so that the most interesting part is visible through the plastic, decreasing the chances of its being immediately tossed.
Now you need a box to put on the floor under your dominate hand, so you can drop the bags in as you make them. I use a small but high-walled box, and it keeps them nicely lined up before I move them to the delivery bag. I bought an over-the-shoulder delivery/messenger bag from wamm.org that works wonderfully. Tape the cardboard "Bracer" of the plastic bags to the table, and get into the rhythm of "Pick up, slide into bag, tear bag off, put in box." If the plastic bag is sticky with static, open the end, blow into it, and the papers will go right in.
Before you know it, you'll have so many you'll wonder how you'll ever get them all out, but they will go fast once you start getting them out.
Then look for apartments with open stairways or lots of homes close together, park the car where it won't be in the way (I park where the Law Enforcement Against Prohibition bumper sticker might get seen a lot), and start delivering, remembering how to get back to your car.
When I'm delivering them, I fully respect people's property and privacy. I rarely walk through yards from one house to the next, I never look into any windows or open doors, and I try to be as quiet as possible. I try to place the bag in a most convenient place, but we can never put them inside mailboxes! Many mailboxes have extra boxes for newspapers and such, so that is what I look for first, or a hook on the mailbox or mailbox post. If the property has a fence, I hang it on the gate, never going inside it. If they have garage doors with "T" shaped handles, that's a good place too. Wrought iron decorations are the best places to put these bags because they'll hold the bag even in high wind and they make the bag more visible. If there is nothing at all to hook the bag to, I place it close to the door BUT NOT AT THE OPENING, so that it won't get stepped on, which might cause a slip and fall.
Keep tabs on the areas you've covered, for future reference. I highlight the streets on a map after I've been on them, so there's no guessing later on.
I spend about 5 hrs a week on this project to put out about 150 packets of freedom-friendly material, and when I come home, I know for a fact that many more people have heard about LEAP and other organizations than they would have otherwise, and that many of those people will turn this over in their heads. That's a great start! You'll get great exercise and you'll cover hundreds of doorknobs in just hours at apartment complexes. Take music and water - it's fun! (Empty your bladder before you go, too - yikes!)
I wait until after 6pm or Sundays to do apartments, so the office people won't get upset. I hate bothering people, but I know the quest for freedom and justice is more important than what they would consider solicitation.
3) Put them in junk mail return envelopes.
4) Leave a copy on some empty seats at airports, laundromats or any other place where people will be waiting with not much to do. I have been told to leave a busy bus stop once, because I was approaching people, asking if they wanted one. Take your chances if you feel like it, or just leave a few here and there.
NOTE: Putting them on windshields is not as good. People hate having their cars touched, it has to be good weather, and a lot of flyers end up as litter. But if you must, you must! Park and Rides are GREAT places, and I have gotten permission from security before. Anything is better than nothing for any great cause. Ours just happens to be putting an end to some wrongful imprisonment. Thank you!

Cannabis is safer than

First, I arrange a word-document page with two columns to fit the above statement in there 12 times, 6 per column.
I use Times New Roman, 20 font.
Line them up well - it will making cutting them easier.
Then I print it out, have about 100 copies made, and have them cut/cut them myself.
Many copy shops offer cutting service, but if you like hobbies like knitting, you'll enjoy buying your own paper cutter and doing it yourself. If you do buy a cutter, get the new kind with the sliding blade - they are great!
I especially like how these tiny leaflets so perfectly slide into credit card slots at gas stations, so I slip one into my card slot and into any others I can reach, and there it is for the next person to see!
I leave them at laundromats, on store shelves, with tips, in out-going mail, in restrooms, at airports, bus stations - anywhere people go all the time is a good place for the truth! Be creative!

Homemade protest signs:
Get 2 posterboards and a piece of corrugated plasticboard (this supports the posterboard) equal to or a bit smaller than the posterboard. Screw the plasticboard onto a rectangular wooden stick for a handle, so it looks like a good, old-fashioned protest sign.
Now turn your attention to the posterboard you'll be writing on.
First, space out how you want the letters. It may help to buy stencils (I'd go with 5 inch letters) to help you design your message. Then I outline the letters in thick dark marker, and fill in the letters with lighter markers. Do both posters. Then lay one poster face down on the floor, center the corrugated plasticboard on that, then put the other poster on top of that, face up. Make sure everything is right-side-up, line up the edges and use clear packing tape to seal the posters' edges together... and Walla! A sturdy, light sign you can hold up high at any busy intersection! (If you do this while smiling, it'll be like having a party on a stick! When I do this, so many people honk and wave, smile and even say, "Thank you!" So that's why I'm encouraging you so much - it's a FUN way to get the truth out and encourage others!!)
This is what I did in 2006:
I went on a regular walking/sign waving routine where I'll look for a sidewalk with plenty of visibility from the street and a speed limit of around 40mph (So they have time to read and drive). So, about once a week, I wore nice clothes, put on a little make up, parked out of the way, and walked along the sidewalk for about 45 minutes while smiling and holding the sign proudly as I pray for the people suffering under these laws of ours. So I got my exercise, my out-reach, AND my prayertime all in one!
Always yield to all cars - if one is waiting to turn in front of me, I just stop and focus on the cars going by until they finish their turn. I want to be a good example for us all, is all.
I stopped doing this in 2007 because I spent more time distributing information packets door-to-door.
Now, I'm mostly just parking the car and holding the sign at a busy street, trying to get others to join me an hour a week for sign-holdings so we can bug people to death about how sick of these laws we are. People do come out at times, and it is always an amazingly positive experience!
